Mercury Insurance Discounts To Policyholders

Garvin Insurance Agency offers several discounts to policyholders through Mercury Casualty Company. Discounts are available for everything from being a good driver to holding multiple policies with us. Contact us to learn more or to request a quote.

Persistency Discount

This discount applies to policyholders who have been insured with Mercury for at least one year with no lapse in coverage greater than 30 days.

Group Discounts

This discount may apply if an insured driver is a member of one of the professional groups listed below:

Engineer: Policyholder must have a Bachelors degree or be licensed as an engineer in the field of Aeronautical, Aerospace, Architectural, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Gas, Mechanical, Nuclear, Petroleum, or Structural Engineering.

Scientist: Policyholder must have a Bachelors degree in Astronomy, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Cybernetics, Geology, Geophysics, Mathematics, Meteorology, Physics, Planetary Systems, Computer Science, Biology, or Information Systems.

Educators: Policyholder must be credentialed as a teacher or educational administrator by the State of California Commission, or be employed full-time as a college or university teacher or professor.

California Medical Association: Policyholder must be a member of the California Medical Association.

Los Angeles County Bar Association: Policyholder must be a member of the Los Angeles County Bar.

CPA: This discount applies to all members, staff, and their nonprofit subsidiaries of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Alumni Association: Policyholder must be a member of an alumni association of an accredited 4-year college or university.

Good Student

This discount is offered to single drivers with less than 8 years of driving experience who are attending a public or parochial school or college on a full-time basis, and maintained a B or better grade point average in the previous semester. College or school means an academic institution and does not include trade or vocational schools.

Good Driver

To be eligible, all drivers of your private passenger vehicle must have been licensed to drive for the last 3 years and during the past 3 years have not had:

• A major conviction.
• An at fault accident resulting in bodily injury or death.
• An at fault accident involving property damage only which resulted in a 1 point conviction.
• More than 1 point due to a combination of minor convictions and/or at fault accidents.

In addition, during the past 10 years all drivers must not have been convicted for driving under the influence.

Multiple Automobiles

This discount applies to policyholders who have insured more than one vehicle on a policy with Mercury Casualty Company.

Multiple Policies

An additional credit is available to policyholders who have their automobile and homeowner, condo, or renters insurance with Mercury.

Mature Driver

This discount applies to drivers age 55 and older who have received a driver improvement course certificate from a certified DMV school, and who have not had any traffic convictions or at-fault accidents since completing the driver improvement course.

Anti-Theft Devices

Vehicles which include a qualifying factory anti-theft system as standard equipment will have the discount automatically applied.
